High-Efficiency Toilet. Eligible EBMUD customers can get $50 for upgrading an older toilet using 3.5 GPF or more to a new HET. The offer is good for purchases made July 1 through December 31, 2010, but is not retroactive. Applications for rebates must be submitted within 90 days from the date of purchase.

Self-Adjusting Irrigation Controller Rebates. EBMUD customers who use more than 750 gallons per day of summer irrigation and replace an existing irrigation timer with a qualifying model may be eligible for a rebate of $100, $150, or $200 per controller, depending on water consumption history. EBMUD account holders who meet the program eligibility rules below can qualify for a rebate. Valid for purchases of a qualifying controller between July 1, 2010 and December 31, 2010.

WaterSmart Customized Rebates. EBMUD’s Customized Rebate Program helps commercial, industrial and institutional customers save money with financial incentives on capital expenditures for retrofit of existing equipment with more water-efficient technologies. This program applies to hardware upgrade(s) including equipment and technology for space cooling, refrigeration, laundry, cleaning, and flushing. In many cases the rebate plus the money saved on water bill can yield a payback (ROI) of less than 3 years.

EBMUD offers customized incentives for permitted graywater systems. A permit may be required for certain graywater systems. Check with your local building department.

Program: Residential Conservation Programs

Submeters allow people who live in apartments, mobile homes, condominiums and townhomes to monitor their water use, which encourages conservation. Rebates are available to multi-family property owners who 1) install water meters on individual dwelling units, 2) meter and bill residents for water, and 3) install water-efficient toilets, showerheads, and faucet aerators when required. Property owners also may be eligible for rebates for toilets. EBMUD offers free showerheads and faucet aerators.

Qualifying high-efficiency toilet. Replace a toilet using more than 3.5 gallons per flush with a qualifying high-efficiency toilet (HET) using less than 1.28 gallons per flush.
